Continued yield compression in regional markets

KEY POINTS:

Annual RevPAR growth for the year ending September 2016 was 2.6% reaching $140.
ADR increased 1.6% to reach $185 for the year ending September 2016.
National occupancy jumped to 75.7% recording growth of 1.1%.
Top performers were Cairns and Hobart who are registering 11% and 8.2% increases in RevPAR for the year ending September 2016.
International visitor arrivals reached a record high of 7.2m, an increase of 10% on 2015, and domestic overnight trips were up 7% to 88.8m.
Spending by international visitors in the year to June 2016 reached a record high of $25.5bn, up 14% on 2015, whilst overnight spend on domestic trips increased 6% to $58.9bn.
Hotel sales volume so far this year are just shy of $1.9bn.
