Two premium coastal golf destinations for sale

Sydney, 17 April 2014 - Two of Australia’s finest coastal golf destinations are being offered for sale either individually or as a combined package.

The courses are Moonah Links near Gunnamatta Beach on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula and The Sands Torquay sited on the northern headland of Torquay at the start of the world-famous Great Ocean Road.

Moonah Links, known in international golfing circles as the “Home of Australian Golf” is less than one and a half hour’s drive from Melbourne, and The Sands is an easy hour’s drive from Melbourne.

Both are modern premium golfing destinations.

Moonah Links features two outstanding 18-hole championship golf courses. The highly ranked Peter Thomson designed Open course that hosted both  r the 2003 and 2005 Australian Opens. The adjoining elite golf academy has world-class training facilities and accommodation villas. The property also benefits from a Peppers-managed hotel with 36 suites and 52 rooms.

A magnificent clubhouse with restaurant and conference facilities completes the property, and the site also includes additional development land with attendant permits.

The Sands Torquay opened in 2004 offers a picturesque 18-hole golf course with a large modern clubhouse. Still to this day, remains the only Stuart Appleby designed championship course. The property also benefits from a separately operated Health Club business with a 25-metre indoor pool, 2 tennis courts and gymnasium facilities.

Included in the sale is the Englobo development site of approximately 4000 square metres.

Scott Callow and Rob Cross from CBRE Hotels are marketing the property on behalf of the owners, the Handbury Group, via an Expressions of Interest process.

Mr Callow said it was a magnificent opportunity to purchase two such world-class golf facilities in the current market.

“Handbury Group has been approached on numerous occasions by prospective purchasers for both the golf and hotel assets. We expect to see high levels of interest for both properties, both locally and from overseas. The decision to place these premium assets on the market is expected to bring the current interest to a head,” Mr Callow said.

“This latest market release follows the recent offering of the Heritage Golf and Country Club which, like Moonah Links, houses two high-quality 18-hole golf courses. A number of interested parties have already looked to purchase the Heritage Golf and Country Club,” he said.
