Famous Connemara Coast Hotel on the market

Dublin, 26th April 2017 – CBRE Hotels have today confirmed their instructions to offer the spectacularly located Connemara Coast Hotel, Furbo, Galway on the market for sale by private treaty. The property is being sold on behalf of Charles Sinnott, Sinnott Hotels, who has traded successfully from this location for over 30 years.

The sale of the Connemara Coast Hotel offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a luxurious 4 Star, 141 bedroom hotel with extensive conference and leisure facilities set on a spectacular site of approximately 6ha (14.7 acres) overlooking Galway Bay.

The Connemara Coast Hotel is located on the R336 at Furbo, between Barna and Spiddal and less than ten minutes’ drive from Galway city centre. The hotel is strategically located in a beautiful part of the Wild Atlantic Way and is an ideal base from which to explore the rugged beauty of Connemara. The Wild Atlantic Way is a 2,500 kilometer coastal route along the entire Western Seaboard from Kinsale to Donegal and which has proven to be enormously successful.

Galway is one of Ireland’s most popular tourist destinations and annually attracts over one million tourists to the city and county to savor its rich cultural heritage and vibrant atmosphere. As a city, Galway has attracted many international firms to establish a business presence in the city and as a result has earned an excellent “work /life” balance reputation.

The Connemara Coast Hotel is situated on a gently sloping site with uninterrupted views of Galway Bay and beyond to The Burren, Co Clare. The hotel, which previously traded as Teach Furbo, was acquired in 1985 by Sinnott Hotels, who immediately set about creating a Grade A hotel, continuously expanding, redeveloping and improving the hotel facilities to a very high standard. The substantial investment over the years ensured that the Connemara Coast Hotel achieved a number of accolades and awards for its many loyal guests who return year after year to appreciate its enchanting setting and top class hospitality.

The hotel comprises 141 guest bedrooms (all with sea views), extensive conference and banqueting facilities, a variety of dining options, two bars and a fully equipped leisure centre. Because of its setting and proximity to Galway City, the hotel is a popular choice for leisure, conference and wedding business.

The preferred route of the new Galway City Bypass has been announced and this route will connect with the existing road infrastructure close to the hotel and which will provide the Connemara Coast Hotel with a pivotal trading position in the future.

The Connemara Coast Hotel trades exceptionally well and is highly profitable as it benefits from multiple revenue streams catering to tourists and locals alike. The hotel is being sold unencumbered and offers a new purchaser complete flexibility on branding and management.

Charles Sinnott commented “the hotel has always attracted a loyal customer base who return year after year to enjoy its beautiful setting and top class hospitality. Over the years the hotel has been frequented by many famous personalities, actors and politicians including Irish – American film director John Ford who proclaimed that the views over Galway Bay from the hotel were as fine as he had ever witnessed in his life. There have been numerous important national and international events held at the hotel including the first annual conference of The International Nobel Women’s Initiative which with five of the seven female Nobel Prize recipients in attendance. Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma / Myanmar was unable to attend as she was being held under house arrest at the time”.

According to selling agent John Ryan of CBRE Hotels the sale of the Connemara Coast Hotel represents a unique opportunity to acquire one of Galway’s best known and successful hotels renowned for its spectacular setting and top class hospitality. The prospects of future growth at the hotel have been strengthened with the announcement of the location of the Galway City Bypass which will increase accessibility and further reinforce the already substantial annual turnover.

Offers in the region of €12 million are being sought for the property.
